These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are an agreement between SiteGuarding CY Ltd, a company registered in Cyprus under number HE389777, with its registered office at Panayioti Tsangari 14, 4047 Limassol, Cyprus ("SiteGuarding", "we", "us"), and the merchant that installs or uses the SiteGuarding Store Scanner app (the "App") on a Shopify store ("you"). They govern your use of the App. Our Privacy Policy and our Data Processing Addendum ("DPA") form part of these Terms.
By installing or using the App, you accept these Terms. If you install the App on behalf of a company or another person, you confirm that you have authority to bind them. If you do not accept these Terms, do not install or use the App.
1. Important statements about Shopify
The App is developed and provided by SiteGuarding, not by Shopify. You acknowledge and agree that:
- SiteGuarding is solely responsible for the App;
- Shopify is not liable for any faults in the App or for any harm resulting from them;
- Shopify does not provide support for installing or using the App, unless Shopify expressly says otherwise;
- SiteGuarding, not Shopify, is solely responsible for any liability arising from your use of the App, including its development, support and the handling of data from your store;
- Shopify is not a party to these Terms, and Shopify has no obligation to resolve any dispute between you and SiteGuarding.
2. The App
2.1. The App is a read-only security scanner for Shopify stores. Depending on your plan and settings, it:
- reads the theme files of your store through the Shopify Admin API, using the
read_themespermission only; - if you turn storefront scans on, opens public pages of your online store in its own browser, the way a visitor would, and records the scripts, links, forms, network requests and other content it sees;
- if you turn the checkout path check on (Pro and Business plans), adds one product to a cart, clicks the checkout button and records where it leads, then stops before the checkout opens;
- checks the public DNS email records of your domains;
- shows findings and reports, and sends alerts and exports where your plan includes them.
2.2. Apart from the cart created by the checkout path check, the App does not change your store, does not block visitors or traffic, does not repair or remove code, does not have access to your orders, customers or payments, and does not open Shopify's checkout pages.
2.3. The App is intended for business use by merchants, not for consumers.
3. Storefront scans and your authorization
3.1. Storefront scans and the checkout path check are off after installation. They start only when you turn them on in the App, after the App shows you what it will do. You can turn them off at any time in Settings.
3.2. When you turn storefront scans on, you authorize SiteGuarding to access the public pages of the domains of your store listed in the App, on the scan schedule of your plan, starting no more than one page per second, with no more than 200 file requests to your store per page, from the IP addresses shown in the App, and to record and analyze what it sees. We keep a record of who gave this authorization, when, for which domains and with which text.
3.3. You confirm that you own or control the store and every domain you enable for scanning, and that you are entitled to give this authorization. Do not enable scanning for any website you are not entitled to authorize.
3.4. During a scan the App does not submit forms, does not sign in to customer accounts, does not place orders and stops common analytics and advertising pixels. The only exceptions are your storefront password form, if you give us the password, and the add to cart form of the checkout path check. Adding one product to a cart is the only request of that check that changes anything on your store. A cart created this way is not an order and no payment is made.
4. Accuracy and limits of the results
4.1. The App reports what it found on the pages and files it was able to check, at the time it checked them. It cannot see everything that runs on a store. Some malicious code only runs for certain visitors, at certain times, or outside the pages we open, and some pages or files may not be checked because of plan limits, time limits, access limits or errors. The App tells you what it could not check.
4.2. A report with no findings does not mean that your store is free of malicious code or vulnerabilities, and a finding does not always mean that something is wrong. Findings are automated and may contain false positives or miss real problems. You are responsible for reviewing findings and deciding what to do.
4.3. The App is one tool among others. It does not replace your own security measures, Shopify's protections, backups, or professional advice.
5. Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- use the App only for your own store or stores, or, if you are an agency, for stores you are authorized to manage, and in compliance with applicable laws and the Shopify terms that apply to you;
- keep the information you enter in the App accurate, including alert recipients;
- give any notices to your staff and to the people whose addresses you add as alert recipients that the law requires;
- not use the App, or arrange the content of a store, to attack, overload or misuse the App, our systems or any third party, including by trying to direct our scanner to websites or addresses other than your store;
- not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or provide the App to others except as these Terms allow, and not try to gain unauthorized access to the App or to other users' data;
- not use the App to monitor the availability or performance of Shopify or to build a competing product from the App's results or code.
6. Plans, trials and billing
6.1. The App offers a Free plan and paid plans (Starter, Pro and Business), monthly or yearly. The features, limits and prices of each plan are shown on the App's listing in the Shopify App Store and on the Plan page in the App.
6.2. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial, unless the listing says otherwise at the time you subscribe. Whether a merchant who reinstalls the App gets another trial is decided by Shopify's rules. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts and you are charged.
6.3. All charges are billed and collected by Shopify through your Shopify account, in US dollars, under Shopify's billing terms. We do not collect payment details. Taxes may apply as shown on your Shopify invoice.
6.4. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you change your plan, choose the Free plan or uninstall the App. You can change or cancel your plan at any time on the Plan page; changes and cancellations take effect according to Shopify's billing rules. Uninstalling the App cancels your paid subscription.
6.5. Charges already billed are not refundable, except where the law requires a refund or where we decide, at our discretion, to give a refund or credit through Shopify.
6.6. We may change prices or plan features. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price increase takes effect for your subscription, and, where Shopify requires it, we will ask you to approve the new price. A finding of critical or high severity is never hidden behind a paid plan.
7. Free plan and changes to the App
7.1. The Free plan is provided as it is, with the limits shown in the App. We may change or end the Free plan with reasonable notice.
7.2. We improve the App over time and may add, change or remove features. If we remove a material feature of a paid plan during your billing period, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel.
8. Data protection
8.1. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in the App, and our DPA governs our processing of personal data on your behalf as your processor.
8.2. The App does not collect personal information of your customers on purpose and does not access orders or customer records.
8.3. When you uninstall the App, its access to your store ends at once. We delete your store's data when Shopify sends us the store deletion request, normally 48 hours after uninstallation, and in any case within 30 days. Export any reports you need before uninstalling.
9. Intellectual property
9.1. The App, its software, rules and signatures, documentation and branding belong to SiteGuarding and its licensors. Subject to these Terms and your plan, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the App for your store while it is installed.
9.2. Your store, its content and your theme files remain yours. You give us the right to access, copy and analyze them only as needed to provide the App to you and to keep it secure.
9.3. You may use, copy and share the reports and exports the App produces for you. On the Business plan you may brand PDF reports with your own name and logo and give them to your clients. You confirm that you have the right to use any name and logo you upload.
9.4. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
9.5. "Shopify" and related marks belong to Shopify Inc. Nothing in these Terms gives you any right in SiteGuarding's or Shopify's names or marks.
10. Freedom to do business
Nothing in these Terms requires you to use the App exclusively, prevents you from using, building or buying other products that compete with the App (except by misusing our confidential information or code), or restricts how you run your business or with whom you deal.
11. Support
We provide support by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., in English. Paid plans include email support; Pro and Business requests are handled with priority.
12. Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error free, that it will find every security issue, or that its results will be complete or accurate. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty that cannot be excluded by law.
13. Limitation of liability
13.1. To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable to the other for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data, arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the App, even if advised of the possibility.
13.2. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SiteGuarding's total liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms and the App is limited to the greater of the fees you paid for the App in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and 100 US dollars.
13.3. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Indemnity
You will indemnify SiteGuarding against third-party claims and related reasonable costs arising from your breach of Section 3.3 or Section 5, including enabling scans of a website you were not entitled to authorize.
15. Suspension and termination
15.1. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
15.2. We may suspend or end your access to the App, or to storefront scans, if you materially breach these Terms, if your use creates a security risk or legal risk for us, Shopify or third parties, if Shopify requires it, or if we stop offering the App. Where reasonable, we will tell you in advance and give you a chance to fix the issue. If we stop offering the App without a breach by you, we will give at least 30 days' notice where possible.
15.3. These Terms end automatically when you uninstall the App or when Shopify ends your access to the App. Sections 1, 4, 9, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17, and any accrued payment obligations, survive termination.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version with a new date and, for material changes, tell you in the App or by email at least 30 days before they apply. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you may uninstall the App before they apply. Continued use after that date means you accept them.
